I am translating my very first text, and do not understand how words end up in my TM in order not to translate them again if they occur later in the text, I read it is automatic but how?? I made a file-based TM for this translation
The translation memory would record segments and their corresponding translation as soon as you confirm them with CTRL+enter and then the suggestion translation will be given to you if a segment you are translating is min 70% similar to a segment you translated in the past and you have recorded in your local TM.

thank you so much... for some reason on my key board ctrl Enter didn't do the job (it is azerty and old...i will change it), so I used the icon for confirming my translated sentences. Strangely enough after that my TM did indicate the 100% match, but not the 90% for example....(I used the same text as the lecturer in the training video u suggested me)
Dear Loredana, just for your information, I now understand my problem had to do with the language pair of my TM... the example text I copied from the Andy Walker video was english-german and my TM settings were still on dutch-french... Then I made a new source document in dutch and translated into french and all worked well...
