Text missing from IDML files.

Question

I've been given an IDML file for translation and a PDF proof. 
 The IDML opens fine in Trados Studio 2014, but when I checked it against the PDF proof, I found there are whole and partial paragraphs missing. 
 Unfortunately, I don't have a recent enough version of InDesign to open the IDML and check myself, but the person who sent me the IDML says that everything is in there. 
 Has anyone else encountered this problem, or does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Close your document in Studio. Go to "File - Options - File Types - Adobe InDesign CS4-CC IDML" and activate the option "Extract content of hidden layers". Open the document again in Studio. 
 
If you see more content now, this means that the layouter did hide some of the layers. If that is the case, inform your customer that he should make all the layers with translatable content visible before generating the IDML. 
 
By default, Studio only shows the visible layers.

Thanks very much for the speedy reply. I should have mentioned that I tried that and it still didn't work. However, about 5 minutes after posting my query, the customer sent yet another new version of the IDML (having copied and pasted the text into a new frame) and it works fine. Typical.
