Project with many XML files crashes Trados

I am trying to create a project with 352 XML files. The files are OK but Trados chokes on the project. It does not display an error message nor times out. I ran it several times, the last time for an hour. No luck. Am I missing something? Can someone tell me what to do? Thanks

  • Hi

Thank you bringing this to our attention.

May I ask if it worked in a different version of SDL Trados Studio?

While we don't limit the number of files we say SDL Trados Studio can handle, its often down to what the user can tolerate.
At times SDL Trados Studio seems like it chokes / bombs out and crashes.... but actually it is taking its time to process.

Factors could include but not limited to:

    • Number of files
    • Size of files
    • file location versus project location
    • Project specifics
    • Integrations with other resources example, TM's, MT

Clearly your experience is not great and we should do what we can to improve it for you, starting by defining what is meant by it chokes then investigating its root cause.

    To help improve your experience:

Is it possible to share your files with me?
Could you also give insight to what are your project settings? Example number of languages, pre-translation requirements including the use of MT
Where are your files typically stored? Example local to your machine or on a different drive / network?

Looking forward to your files & ongoing clarifications as I would love to investigate further.
