I fix the problem by exporting the database to the tmx format, creating a new database, and importing tmx to it. This solution is short-lived because in the next project the situation repeats itself and the same problem occurs.

I would recommend to start a repair of Studio, following the steps from Workaround 1 as explained in this article:

In case this is not helpful, you can try Workaround  2 or 3.

I have the same problem using Trados Studio 2024 when I try to populate a project translation memory in a project created using Trados Studio 2019 SR2. Actually, an SDLTM file does get created but it seems to be corrupted - its content is mostly a lengthy "NUL" line. I wonder if there's anything that can be done to rectify the situation (please note that the link above doesn't open any article).
