Pre-Translate doesn't work - Studio 2021

Hello,

The Pre-translate in Studio 2021 doesn't work. I get the message : Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I didn't have the problem with Studio 2017.

Thanks,

Eric

  • Is it worth paying for the support?

Good question, so I'll try and answer as practically as I can.  If you have a technical support contract you get:

    • free updates to the latest versions of Studio every time there is an update (this alone starts to make it worth it because you probably pay a similar amount upgrading if you upgrade every time we release a major update)
    • the ability to contact technical support and receive 1:2:1 assistance whenever you need it for any issue involving Trados Studio or Multiterm
    • the ability to report every single thing you don't like, or like, and have technical support review it and ensure the development team are given an opportunity to address it where appropriate

What you won't get is a guaranteed solution to every problem.  So if there was a bug in 2017, and this really is a bug and is still there in 2021, then having a support contract won't make this work any better.  So I would not encourage you to purchase a support contract just to try and get problems that you have had for a long time fixed... IF they really are bugs.

But in general. in my opinion every professional should purchase a support contract because it makes good business sense.  You can budget for known annual costs and never have to think about how to get support when you need it, or worry about the cost of an upgrade.  You set aside a small amount every month and each year pay the renewal.

  • Thanks Paul. I will do that. It is not a big cost. I like your point of view.
