SDL Trados Studio fresh installation on laptop - and Studio choses OneDrive as path for projects

Something very strange to me.

I have the following setup:

On my desktop the folder "Documents" is located in OneDrive.

Now I have bought a new laptop and have installed it. Of course I have OneDrive also there. But the folder Documents were NOT located in OneDrive and this shall be continued that way.

Nonetheless, after activating Studio and logging in to my account Studio has selected the Documents folder from OneDrive and loaded all the projects I have now open on PC. This shall not be that way, I need Studio to have a separate projects.xml on the laptop. Studio on laptop and desktop shall not be connected in any way.

Where do I find the settings for the paths to change this behavior?

  • Hi Steve Whale

Thank you for your detailed answer.

TBH I am not a fan of all these online cloud memories. OneDrive or similar has its advantages for saving pictures taken with my mobile or for keeping some information I may need when on the road and have them accessible with my mobile, but is completely useless for me in terms of work. I keep all my files in a very complicated (or sophisticated, depends on the point of view) files and folder structure, which is easy to maintain.

Next time I will then first install Studio and only then activate any cloud services.
