Actually, yes, I talk about word document and I knew about the manual extraction ... simply ... I would really love if I can skip all this process of open each excel chart, save it, translate it and re-paste in target ... with 200 charts per doc ... that's a nightmare ... it would be amazing if Studio could handle all that ...

I didn't know the plugin btw so ... I am going to try it!

Here there is an interesting way to avoid the copy of each file inside the doc.target ... actually, in embedded excel files there is a looooot of everything, BUT ... still, once we translate the part we areintersted in we can simply put the entire folder inside the docx file and everything should be ok ... I will try that as soon as I will have the opportunity ...

Oh ... And sorry again Ana-Loredana Gabur ... of course there is this great video from PaulFilkin ... But ... It does not work for me, I do not know why. It depends on the word files, for sure, and how they have been made probably.

He suggests NOT to use the embedded files as single files, but ... I do not find any option for now ...

All the resources you are looking at are really old... I really think you need to start by providing  sample of your file that we can look at.  All these workarounds may not be appropriate at all.

I am sorry ... I know all these questions on charts from my side are very boring BUT ... Please, sure ... No problems providing a sample ... here is a small part of the document I was talking about ... ... ... If I import this into studio I only will see something like 3 segments, 13 words ... even if I have the incorporate content option flagged in my options ... It is always like this with this customer ... and I can not find an efficient way to manage these charts ...

This is actually quite tricky.  The reason for this is that the embedded Excel files (saved as XLS and not XLSX) which you can find if you unzip the docx, are actually quite large and the charts only contain a small amount of text that comes from the worksheets that are not on the top one you see in Word.  So to translate them you need to translate the source and not just the text you see in the chart.

To see this unzip the DOCX and look in this folder:

Charts.docx\word\embeddings\

You'll find these:

You can translate these separately, but the analysis (because I did it!) gives you this:

17,866 words of which less than 100 actually need to be translated to show up in the Word file.

This problem is exacerbated because even if you do translate the whole file (as I did), Excel still doesn't refresh the data.  So for example, in here you can see the data for the chart is highlighted by Excel and you can see the source data is now in English, but the chart doesn't refresh it:

This is a recent date and still seems to be unfixed.  I also tried to apply the workaround given but this didn't work for me... so at the moment I don't have a solution for this rather annoying problem.  I think if it was me I'd just delete the charts in the Excel file and recreate them with the newly translated data.

And, yes ... Et the end I had to copy and paste all the 200 charts ... it was a nightmare ...

And I hope we will find a solution ... I'll tell this customer to use at lease the xlsx format ... if they can ... :/

I doubt this will resolve the problem... worth testing it out yourself first before you put your customer to the effort and then still can't solve the issue.
