Any changes done via File -> Options have NO influence on existing projects. This said I see also, that you excluded the segments within your project settings, which is the place to apply such settings.

However, you also need to advise tag verifier, terminology verifier and number verifier to exclude locked segments too. Otherwise these QA parts will perform their checks. For now you most probably have only switched off the QA Checker 3.0.

I have Trados Studio 2022 - 17.0.5.14757 and have set up the following options from Project Settings according to your suggestions.

However, F8 (verify) still shows locked segments in the result window. Am I missing something?

You have to change these settings also in your language pair. You have done this for "All language pairs", but since 2019 (AFAIR) the settings are also available in each separate language pair and need to be adapted there.

The reason is quite simple: you can set general checks within all language pairs, but language specific checks can also be set in the proper language pair. This is important and necessary in multilanguage projects.

They are not found under "All Language Pairs" nor "Japanese (Japan)->English (United States)".

Under "Japanese (Japan)->English (United States)", there is a Verification setting but I could not find them there.

On top of this, you MUST look always in your project settings for existing projects. The settings under File -> Options do NOT affect current projects, as already described before in this topic.

Here is an example of a multilingual project, where you can clearly see the Verification settings for each language pair.

Sorry, I missed what you need. The exclusion settings are indeed available ONLY in All Language Pairs, but again: you must change these settings in your Project Settings, NOT via File -> Options.

I did it through Project Settings not File>Options.

Also, in my Trados 2022, Verification is a category separated from All Language Pairs and individual language pair.

Just to report back what I have found. By adding [x] Exclude PerfectMatch units, I no longer see locked segment in verification result. So, below are the project settings I now use.

I’m not the only one finding this confusing: PM segments normally are locked, but to exclude PM+locked segments, the checkbox Exclude PerfectMatch units must be ticked. In my mind, just ticking Exclude locked segments should be fine. Unless I’m missing another logic behind, at least the help content needs to be updated with this special case.

I'm with you on this issue, It has bothered me for months. Your suggestion of just one "Exclude locked segments" is perfect and should have been implemented.

Trados Studio 2021 SR2 - 16.2.9.9198, Professional

As a dedicated project management team of an LSP, we use Trados for handling translation projects within a framework contract with  large volumes. The client has quite some periodical and amended documents meaning the source of our translation (already revised, accepted and published by the client) is partially modified. Thus the bilingual files we receive for translation are already pre-processed: text parts with no modifications are pre-translated (with Perfect Match or by using translation memories) and locked.

We create all the Trados projects using the same project template, in which Excluding locked segments is ticked in all possible locations (under Verification at QA Checker 3.0, Tag Verifier and Terminology Verifier - surprisingly we do not have Number Verifier at all...). Still, verification is being performed on locked segments in each and every project.

This is very annoying, to be honest, as we work with large volumes (up to 100-150K words) where, in case of such versions a significant part (25-80% of all content) is locked.

A solution for the problem would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

As mentioned above, for some reason, we need to tick both Exclude PerfectMatch units and Exclude locked segments check boxes. Try it and let us know if it works…
