If you run Verification (F8 shortcut), do you get any errors?

You need to have Tag Verification ticked in your Project settings:

If any errors, please correct them and try generating the target again.

Thank you, I have fixed the tag errors but I now have these two messages that I have never seen before.

Have you merged any segments? Usually you can ignore these messages by unchecking the "Validate SDLXLIFF..." option in the sdlxliff file type within your project settings (NOT: File -> Options!) to be able to save target. However, if segments have been merged over paragraph boundaries, the result may still be an invalid Word document, especially if the merger has included segments with picture tags or similar.

no I didn't merge any segments; I don't see where I can uncheck Validate SDLXLIFF within my project settings!

Project Settings -> File types -> SDLXLIFF -> General (AFAIR, but simply click the file type and you should be able to find that setting).

still crashing...Last time it simply worked to copy the file in a new Word document but this one crashes whatever I do.

Starter version is a limited version of the Freelance version, but it's not the problem.

I think 143 pages are too much to copy and paste manually…

Let's test the source file. Please, make a copy of your DOCX file in Windows Explorer and, for example, add the suffix "2" to the file name.

Now open this #2 file in Trados Studio, without any TM and without translating nor editing. Then generate the target file. Test if it works and let us know.

This shouldn't make any difference. Please follow the advice of Jesús Prieto.
