Hello,

Once again, I need some help.

I am trying to load two excel files in Trados. One opens but not the second one.

And i get the message written in the subject.

Attached is the xml error for analysis.

PS: I can open them without problem in MemoQ!

Update: I've changed the file names, and I can see them but is there an explanation for this.

Thank you in advance, so I will be able to prevent my client if I know the cause of it.

    Hello Steve,

    Thank you for taking from your time to answer.

    Here are the answers to your questions:

    - Both files were saved in the same folder, located in a network computer.

    - I did opened the files before importing them in Studio.

    - I did not try to move them to another place.

    - I did a repair with Fresh Start App.

    It only worked when I changed the file names (there were Chinese characters and spaces).

    It would be great to know what may have caused the problem.

    Was it the location, the Studio installation, the file names?

    The installation is now supposed to be OK. Should I modify my workflow and save all the source documents in the same computer where Studio is installed? As far as I know, only the resources (TM, termbases) should be saved locally. Should I tell my client to avoid spaces and Chinese characters where naming the files?

    Today, I had another problem with a Word file: all the characters were crumbled inside the Source side in Studio.

    Hello

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    It seems that in this case, the problem was indeed the special characters/spaces that caused the issue as they were perhaps not being recognised.

    Generally speaking- the shorter and cleaner the file name, the better, (removing spaces and special charcters).

    If the files are stored in a different location (not your C drive) then there maybe issues in accessing these files correctly (proper permissions/synching issues etc.)

    When you have issues, perhaps its simply worth making sure the files are downloaded to your local drive, and then try again- this was you can at least identify/or rule out some of the possible causes.

    You also mention that you have an issue with now a Word file- It would be good if you could elaborate in more detail- perhaps provide us with a screenshot and tell us which language pairs you are working in and whether you have the relevant language p[packs installed on Windows 10

    Thank you, Steven.

    I will create a new thread for this and another issue I am getting with a hole project after updating from a bilingual review.

    It's incredible, but Studio 2019 was more stable than 2021.
