thanks, but not working for all the text (see above)... Only "[media:" has gone !

I'd like to solve this by myself, but clearly I can see I do not have the IT skills to do so, this is very frustrating ! :-(

again me ! I found another column in the file with the name of the media "nettoyage-1602671837084-73.jpeg,nozoom". So it's just logical. I'll just hide this text or lock the segment in Trados.

I think that Paul's regex should work. If it doesn't, maybe you have some other tag rules that don't let it work. Please post a screen-capture of your list of tag definition rules.

The problem we have is that we're working blind.  We can only see what you have told us.  If all your tags are inside square brackets then try something like this:

\[[^]]+\]

Now another problem... here you could try using a tag pair instead of a placeholder.  So opening tags would be:

\[.+?<<

Closing tag would be this:

\]

If you provided a sample file you'd get better answers the first time :-)

This isn't any specific to our software.  It's a regular expression and you an find plenty of information on the internet about them.  These five articles might be helpful as they are at least linked to Trados Studio:

They also provide a lot of links to where to find stuff.  But on that specific expression:

The [ character has a special meaning in regular expressions so to find a square bracket you have to escape it.  That's what the \ character is for.  So \[ just finds a [ character.

The dot, or period, is essentially a wildcard and finds any character.

+

The plus essentially means keep on finding whatever you were looking for (in this case the dot) until you're told to find something else.

?

The question mark prevents the + from being greedy and finding too much.  It may not actually be necessary in this case but I used it as a belt and braces solution just in case.

<<

These just find the << in your string.

This is exactly what that expression will do.  First it'll find the [ and then it'll find anything (which means H2 will be found) and it will keep finding stuff until it reached <<.  So this will become the opening tag:

[h2:>><<

The closing tag will just find the ] at the end.  That means the translator will only see HOW TO USE IT? with a tag at either end, unless it's the only string in the segment in which case the tags will automatically be hidden and you'll only see the translatable text.
