Framemaker - working with markers

Hi,

we've got few escalations about MIF filter related to extracting content of markers. I would like to ask - in you opinion are there any markers worth extracting?

It would be great to start discussion to see what you feel should and should not be extracted.

Thanks a lot

  • Hello!

I think good place to start would be hypertext markers. Those markers usually contain website address. One of SDLs clients provided us lately manual in which for each web address in the text there was few (up to 8 in this case) markers with different web addresses, not necessarily corresponding with address visible in the text - this was clearly source files error which increased word count unnecessairly.

Web addresses are usually not translatable or changed. I would start discussion from allowing excluding hypertext markers from translational in Studio - right now MIF filter does not have this option.

Would you mind sharing a little what type of escalations did you receive? I think it might help us focus the problem a little.

    Best regards!
