On a topic that has been discussed before in this forum: after (again) weighing the pros and the cons of acrynom recognition (and the resulting issue with one-word segments in all caps being analysed and treated as repetitions), we are now considering disabling acronym recognition by default in all our TMs. This raises a few practical questions, however (I should probably mention we are currently still using Studio 2017):
1/ I suppose we need to disable this manually for each new TM we create, and that there is no option to set this as standard behaviour?
2/ Given that we have a few thousands of TMs to change this setting in, is there a batch method to do this? As far as I could tell, the Upgrade Translation Memories tool seems the most time-efficient option as it allows to select the 'Settings' tab and then click each of the TMs in order to untick 'Acronyms'. Given the conversion time this will take, we would have to run this on copies of the TMs over the weekend and then batch rename all the updated TMs to remove " (2)", before overwriting the original versions with the updated ones. Or is there another (faster) tool or method that we could use for this purpose?
