Trados 2019 tried to set up for first time use then gives error Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagementService' could not be started.

This morning I opened Trados 2019 at home to proofread some documents before delivering. I completed all but the last document before I had to go somewhere else to work. When I turned on my computer in the new location, instead of opening, Trados 2019 tried to set itself up for first time use. I cannot understand why this has happened as it was working fine half an hour before.

Even setting it up for first time use (which makes no sense) I can't actually open it because I get an error (Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagementService' could not be started.) and nothing happens. I am now stuck with no access to the software and can't find any support on the RWS website. Is it correct that you now have to buy a support contract for support when something goes wrong with Trados?? This sort of thing is the exact reason there is no chance I will be paying to upgrade to new versions.

  • Thanks for your help, Steven. I shut the computer down completely to move and it was when I switched it on again and tried to open Trados that this happened. I tried a few fixes I found online and uninstalled completely and reinstalled and one of the fixes on the link you've provided seems to have allowed me to open after reinstalling, so thanks for that. Unfortunately, I have no idea why it decided it needed to set up for first-time use when it was working fine just before. I now have a functioning program, which is good, but it's concerning that this can happen suddenly and mis-project as there are days when you can't afford to spend the time trying to fix it.
