Thanks for your quick reply. In my usecase there are two problems with the way you outlined:

1) The HTML is escaped when the file is parsed. There is no tag like <img ...> at that point, only &lt;img...&gt;.

2) I am hoping for the translators to be able to translate the attribute value.

For showing the value a stylesheet would work.

ok - I thought it was only for context as that's what you seemed to say.  In that case, and to avoid  me doing it wrong again, please provide a small snippet of what your file looks like.

Sometimes solutions come when I stop thinking about the problem...

My files look like this:
