Ok, but does the icon change when you click it (one big window icon to two small windows)? If yes, probably you need just to change the window size manually and then close it for the app to remember your choice.
This is what I do. It works for some time and then fails. I would appear that when Trados closes (or is closed), it sometimes looses "necessary" settings.
