Problem creating ttx files from pptx files

Hi,

I am using Trados Studio 2014 SP2. My client wants ttx files back, created from the pptx files they sent me.

Now when I create a ttx file using Legit or TTXit! to convert the pptx files to ttx files the file conversion itself is successful (I found out I need Windows administrator rights to do it) but the text in the created file isn't properly converted and has a lot of unreadable characters.

When I check the available file format filters, Studio tells me that there are no filters available for Powerpoint 2007/2013 files. Could this be the cause for the formatting error during conversion, and why are there no Powerpoint 2007/2013 filters?

Anyone any idea?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Jan-Peter

  • Hi Jan-Peter,

First thing... did you install Legit! and maybe even Studio with admin rights in the first place?  I think this is a prerequisite... nonetheless the fact you have this problem will be something to do with your adminsitrative rights as you work with your machine.

I don't really understand this point.  You are converting to TTX so why would you look in Studio for powerpoint filetypes?  It will be TradosTag (TTX) filetypes you will be using in Studio as you're converting the powerpoint before you start.  The old Trados won't have these because there was no such thing as this later version of powerpoint when Trados was around.

I'm not really clear from your post... but if you can share a file, or even one slide in the file, that contains text that is rendered unreadable then I'll be happy to take a look at it.  You can mail me at pfilkin@sdl.com if this is ok?
