I don't want to appear segments with only numbers in the editor

Question

Hi I&acute;m new using Trados and I have various doubt about it. I have created a project and when I analyze a document that it has numbers in different lines, these numbers are in the editor of Trados but I don't want to appear them. In other CAT I used regular expressions lest they appeared, but here I don't know to do, I don't know if I have to use regular expressions or to select some check,... Can somebody help me lest appear segments with numbers in the editor? Thanks.

To lock a segment, type CTRL-L while in the segment or right-click with the mouse and select "Lock segment". 
A padlock will appear in the status column. To unlock them again, use the same command.

What kind of source files are you handling? It may be possible to hide numbers before the are introduced into the editor in the first place. presumably when you say Trados you really mean Studio? I always think of Trados as the old 2007 and earlier stuff, and Studio as the new breed... good to distinguish the difference so we know what you are referring to. 
 
If you can't hinde them by preparing the filetype to recognise the source, then it is still possible in a number of ways using the display filter. But let's understand what we're working with first?

Hi Alberto, 
 PDF files are converted to DOCX when they are handled in Studio anyway, so the best solution is to clean them up a little and handle them as DOCX. So this means you have a couple of options. The first one is to find all the numbers you don't wish to translate, in MSWord, and then change them all into hidden text. There's an article here that explains the process and this might be helpful. 
 Alternatively use the display filter. In the View menu of Studio you have a display filter that allows you to filter on numbers, or filter with regular expressions... and various other things: 
 
 So you could filter out the numbers and only work on what you wanted. If you have lots of files you could even use a tool called the SDLXLIFF Toolkit , freely available on the SDL OpenExchange, and this would allow you to lock all the numbers before you start work and then you filter on unlocked if you like (another option in the display filter)

Yes... use the SDLXLIFF Toolkit from the OpenExchange and then you can lock all the segments across the entire project in one go with just a couple of clicks.

It doesn't take that long... you just drag the sdlproj file to the SDLXLIFF Toolkit and this picks up every sdlxliff in the project automatically. Send the file to pfilkin@sdl.com and I'll do something with it this week. I'm travelling at the moment so it won't quick, but I will do it this week.

Thanks. I did that so that the statistics you see as you work are complete. If you don't populate the target them the file will never be 100% complete. I guess what I could have done is take it further and change the status of the segments too, and then make sure that the status I set was excluded from update.
