Unable to open TXLF file in Studio.

I am not able to open a TXLF file in Studio 2021. The error message reads: The element names 'xliff' is an invalid child for the XliffProvider element' and under Origin it lists "XLIFF 2.0 v 1.0.0.0". I think Studio is trying to open the TXLF file as XLIFF 2.0, but I do not know why.

In my old Studio 2019 version, the TXLF file can be opened. Can you please help figure out why it does not work in Studio 2021.

Thank you.

  • Hello Steven,

Thanks for getting back to me with your suggestion. The file type is set up correctly under XLIFF in 2021 and has been ever since I installed 2021: In "File Types under XLIFF, I have "*.xlf;*.xliff;*.xlz;*.txlf" specified for "File dialog wildcard expression:" I added that string for XLIFF 2.0 just now (there, the extension ".xlz" was missing). I confirmed these settings under "Options - FileTypes - XLIFF" and in "Project Settings".

I tried creating a new project (fail), shortening the rather lengthy name of the file to under 10 characters (fail), moving the file (with long name) to the second from the top parent directory and trying to open it from there (fail), shortening the name in that location and trying to open it (fail).

The message remains the same: 'The element names 'xliff' is an invalid child for the XliffProvider element' and "XLIFF 2.0 v 1.0.0.0" for Origin.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks.
