Its not clear what you are seeing- are you referring to Studio Editor?

Could you perhaps post a couple of screenshots to show what you are seeing please?

Assuming you have Source Editing/Enable merging segments... enabled

 Unless you have selected the required segments- the options will be greyed out/disabled.

When you select the segments (here seg 1&2) you notice that you can now for instance merge

Or split- (selecting the segment and placing the cursor where you wish to split

If this isnt working for you, please show screen shots of the editor and the segment you wish to split/merge.

You need full sized images of the UI so we can see what might be happening.

Ok, the split option is now working but not the "merge one" it seems I can't select to segments

No need for screenshot, I just can't merge the segments in the editor when the project is open
