Trados Studio 2021 crashes when creating new local project

I just updated Trados Studio to Version Trados Studio 2021 SR1 - 16.1.8.4404
When creating a "new local project" the pop up window opens without displaying the target language and the whole program crashes.
I already changed the default project templates from the older to the newer version. Additionally I also conducted the repair process for Trados Studio. So all solutions suggested for former posts are not working.
What else can I do to repair this issue and use the program properly??

  • If you have any plugins installed it's helpful to mention which ones.  It could be related to the "XLIFF Manager" or the "Reports Viewer Plus".  We need to downgrade these apps to support CU8 properly.  The Reports Viewer Plus has been updated so you should update this if you have it, and the XLIFF Manager will hopefully be updated (technically I should probably say "downdated"!) tomorrow.

    Maybe this helps?

  • You need to actually remove the XLIFF Manager plugin.  The XLIFF Manager is using a more recent version of a component that it shares with Studio and in previous versions Studio was able to determine the correct one to use.  But in CU8 some changes were made that broke this and Studio adopts the same one loaded by the XLIFF Manager... it then breaks because it can't work with it.  This should have been resolved in CU8 but didn't make the cut and so we have to "downdate" the XLIFF Manager and the Reports Viewer Plus until Studio release a fix.  We have done the Reports Viewer Plus already and we are working on the XLIFF Manager today.

So for now, please remove the XLIFF Manager completely, don't just think you can solve this by unchecking a box in the plugins view.  Go to the integrated appstore and actually delete the XLIFF Manager and then restart Studio.

  • Dear Paul, thank you for your fast reply, I deleted the plugin from the app data folders and succeeded, so thank you very much for your help! Problem resolved.

Could you please let me know when you finished the update of the XLIFF plugin, in order to reinstall it?

    Thank you!

The app is updated and available on the appstore.
