Just upgraded to Studio 2021 and cannot add files to "old" projects opened in 2021

Hi,

I just upgraded to Studio 2021 and had no problems activating the license or anything. However, when I open previous projects (which works fine) and then try to add a file to the project I get error messages for pre-translating files and analyzing files. I also tried to upgrade the TM but that did not help. I have several large, ongoing projects like this and would like to be able to open the project in the upgraded version and add files to it regularly. The only suggestion I have received so far is to create a new project, but hope that I would not have to do that for every project. Does anyone know why this is and what I can do?

  • Hi Tess,

It's helpful to attach the error stack (click on the disk symbol in the error message and save the xml file to your desktop) to your question as this tells us a lot of information you are omitting.  However, As a general rule it's better to complete old projects in the older version and then don't keep adding files to them in the new one.  This is because the project settings in 2021 could be quite a bit different to the version you upgraded from and your old projects will retain the old project settings since they move with the project.

  • Thanks Paul! Please find the error stacks attached. I was just hoping to be able to use some of the larger ongoing projects I have and just import them to the upgraded Studio, instead of going through the effort of recreating them for every upgrade. For some of these projects I get a few files a week or month, but the projects have been going on for years and I just add the files to the existing project in Studio (up until now). I inserted two of three error codes. I don't think I had to create new projects when upgrading to 2019. Thank you in advance for any input or tips.
