Can't open projects on new laptop

Hello everyone. I installed Trados Studio 2019 on a new laptop after using it on an older laptop for years. I transferred all of my projects in the appropriate Projects folder on the new laptop but I cannot open them at all. If I try to open them from Trados, I can get into the project's folder but the project itself is nowhere to be found. If I try to open it from Windows, it opens Trados and does nothing else. I looked up the issue online, seems like I need my user profile, so I transferred that as well but I don't see an option to use it. If I try to "import" on the Users menu, I'm required to use a Microsoft 365 account but signing in does not work, even though that account works perfectly on Microsoft's website. I tried just switching out the profile files directly from one computer to another, still nothing.  What am I missing?

  • Hello Steven Whale, and thank you for taking the taking to respond.

    To answer your questions:

Projects are saved in Studio 2019 > Projects, the default location.

Screenshot of Trados Studio 2019 Projects folder showing a list of project files including 'Resume' with a green checkmark indicating successful transfer to the new laptop.

Opening files from Windows takes me to the Files menu in Trados without opening the project (see the following screenshot).  Projects created on the new laptop work just fine (hence the "Résumé" file on the screenshot).

Screenshot of Trados Studio interface with the Files menu open, displaying a selected XML file but no project is opened in the workspace.

I just noticed something interesting that could be relevant: the old files I transferred to the new laptop are XML files while the new ones are "SDL Trados Project File".
