Error message: An item with the same key has already been added - please help, my document won't open anymore. I have Trados 2009 and it happened after the revisor sent it back from Studio 2011

Question

I have translated a word docment in Trados 2009. Afterwards, I sent the sdlxliff to the revisor and she sent it back to me, but she works with Trados 2011. When I tried to open the sdlxliff, it did not work anymore. The error message is : Another item with the same key has already been added. Please help! I have to finish this tomorrow....

I guess this is too late for you now, but I think the resolution in this case is to pretransate the file from your TM. I believe there were changes between 2009/2011 which may have been the cause for this problem... or even working in a tool other than Studio (although you did say your reviewer used 2011).

In general I think it's a bad idea to work with monolingual TTX files (I'm asuming these are just not fully segmented) and this is because Studio will have a go at segmenting them properly but it won't always be the way Trados would have done it. If the files are fully segmented before you bring them into Studio then you are les likely to have problems at all because the work is already done the Trados way.
