I had a little play with this tonight:

I can't reproduce the issue you have, I just get the preview out of date message at some point and the preview stopped updating automatically.  But even up to this point it wasn't delaying and I never lost focus once.

Vlad Bondor is this something you've come across at all?

Could it be connected with the size of the file that's being translated? (Or with the complexity of the XSLT.) That with a small file, first the preview completes (and takes the focus), then the editor moves to the next segment and re-takes the focus. And with a large file, the editor is on the next segment already when the preview completes, so that the last process to complete "has" the focus?

Quite possibly.  I don't have a more complex stylesheet and large XML to accompany it, but let's see if Vlad Bondor is aware of the issue before taking this further.

If he isn't I'm happy to take another look if you can share a custom filetype containing the stylesheet and an XML file to test?

Hi Paul,

I haven't seen this before (asked some other engineers as well) and I can't find any defects related to this behavior. If this is repro on your end with Daniel's data (stylesheet + XML); feel free to forward the documents to me so I can report the issue to dev.

I know I'm a bit late, but I'm having exactly the same problem and I had the same problem in 2011. I think it's related to large translations (the one I'm currently doing is very large). I can only fix it by closing the preview and restarting Trados. Then when I need the preview again for proofreading, there we go again. The files are all docx, by the way.

I a different thread that also touches on this topic there is the idea to type CTRL+0 to get the focus back to the editor. That's not ideal, but better than having to use the mouse. It seems that it's the highlighting of the preview text that steals the focus.
