No recognition of the match of segment after the use of the button Confirm but do not move to Next Segment.

Hello,

In the case where there is no exact match in the translation memory.

Dropdown menu in Trados Studio showing options for confirming segments, including 'Confirm and Move to Next Unconfirmed Segment' and 'Confirm but do not Move to Next Segment'.

With the Confirm but do not Move to Next Segment use the match of a segment is not taken into account in the editor but the segment is recorded in the Translation memory.

The only way to have the segment confirmed inside the editor is to use Confirm and Move to Next Segment or other Confirm options that move at the same time.

Inside the editor, even if we select another segment, save and reopen the file, the segment is not recognized as a match.

Trados Studio segment with a green checkmark and '82%' match from translation memory.

If there was no segment corresponding before in the TM there is even no % display at all.

Trados Studio segment with a green checkmark indicating a match but no percentage displayed.

This is what we can see inside the Translation Memory View for the same segment

Trados Studio Translation Memory View showing 'CM' and '82%' indicating a Context Match with an 82% match rate.

These are the parameters that I have for my studio 2019.

  • The answer is most likely that you have "Lookahead" enabled.  It's a great features, but it does have a flaw that is relevant to the scenario you painted here.  The way it works is that it looks ahead three segments and caches the results from your TM, and also any calls to a machine translation engine or termbase.  This means as you work through your file the response is much faster since the results have been looked up before you even get to that segment.

However, if you didn't have any results, and you now add a segment to your TM which is what you have done here, the new entry won't be recognised because the cache takes precedence.  If you go back up a few segments and then come back down you'll "probably" find the result is now there.
