Title says it all. Is there some way to get around this? I want to split and merge segments for the following reason: Sometimes, in my original translation in Trados, there will be two periods in a segment. However, when I am retrofitting the translation back into Trados, this segment is shown as two segments, and the option to connect these "two" segments to the original single segment is greyed out. A similar problem arises when the target file has had a period added for whatever reason.

Please can you check your project settings as the ability to split and merge segments across paragraphs 
can at times to prohibited based on the privileges set against that project
