Prepare xliff file just for the relevant target language

Hello,

we tested today the XLIFF file type to replace the disappeared wsxliff file type that we used in Studio 2017 for bilingual files from WorldServer.

A relevant difference is that the target language of the xlf files is not considered in the preparing process and all xlf that we have to prepare for let's say 10 languages are prepared for each of the target language instead of 1 xlf per language (so the fr-FR file just prepared for French, es-ES file just for Spanish and so on). Is this a bug, maybe related to our files or is this a limitation of the XLIFF file type?

Kind regards

Sébastien

  • I'm wondering if you brought this through from 2015?  I can find it in Trados Studio 2015 but not in any of the later versions and I have 2017, 2019 and 2021 installed.

However it got there, we don't support it now, at least not as a separate filetype.  This is where it was my bad... looks like the support is inherent in the WS package handler and not as a separate filetype anymore.   can probably explain the why's and wherefores of that.

What happens if you prepare the package in WS instead of taking the XLF files themselves?  Presumably you can then create the single project you're after as a package?
