Cannot open an .sdlproj file

I have an .sdlproj file I created myself and now I can't open it. I get a message that my program edition doesn't support this type of files and only single projects or project packages can be opened. I don't really understand why this is because all the other files I've translated and saved before have the same sdlproj extension. I translated this particular document on another machine and am now trying to open it on my other laptop. On both I have Trados Studio 2021. Can anyone help, please? Thank you.

  • Just checking... are you trying to actually open the *.sdlproj file to translate it?  Perhaps you wanted to do one of these things:

    1. copy the whole project to your other computer and then open the *.sdlproj using "Open Project" as this is a project file containing only metadata to tell Studio where to find the translatable file and other resources... or

    2. translate the *.sdlxliff file as this is what contains the translations

Apologies if you already know this stuff... but seems a good thing to check since I don't know how much you know about the product.
