How to "clone" a TM and change source language

For many years we have been building up a large TM for EN_UK to DE. 
 We now have a new USA-based client in the same industry. 
 Our client is sending us files which are set up as EN_US to DE. 
 For different business reasons, we would like to create a new TM for EN_US to DE, which from day one would contain all the terms currently in our EN_UK to DE TM. 
 In other words, we would like to &ldquo;clone&rdquo; the TM and then change the source language of the clone from EN_UK to EN_US. What is the easiest way to do this?

 You could just use AnyTM and this would allow you to use the same TM for all flavours. But if that isn't an option all you need to do is this: 
 
 export your TM to TMX 
 create a new SDLTM in the language pair you want 
 import the TMX 
 
 That's it. It will inherit the languages you set in the SDLTM.

 This is also possible, with a little hack. Copy the TM in windows... no need to clone as it's simply a file. Rename it to suit. Then using a SQLite editor just rename the language code in the translation_memories table: 
 
 You do this entirely at your own risk however as this is not supported. The proper way would be export TMX, create a new TM and then import. This will also ensure all other resources that are used for this language pair are correctly applied.
