Trados 2015 Error message: "Target language does not match the expected project language

Hello everyone,

I was sent a few xliff files to translate, but both the target and the source language are set to EN-US so, I get the error message "Target language does not match the expected project language".

I have checked the forum already for suggested solutions on these pages:

but none seemed to work for me, I still have the same problem. I cant open the files in any way - either as a single file translation or in a project.

How can I tackle this?

Thanks

  • Hi ,

Regardless of 2015 being no longer supported, Lydia shared a file and we have managed to reproduce the same in the 2021 version, while also being already raised this with the teams (CRQ-13210), so the teams are working on this.

As a workaround, please do the following:

    1. Create a new project and add the files.

    2. In the target folder, open the created sdlxliff files with Notepad++ and at the top, where look for this: target-language="en-US" and change the language code to match the target language set at project level. Save the file.

    3. Open the file in Editor and check if you can save target successfully.

    Hope it's useful!
