A possibly related problem is flagging the same error more than once. Although the correctly flagged error occurs just once, two errors are flagged. This increases the size of the already large error list.

Yes. I know that Verify (unfortunately) does not handle multiple TBs.

The  problem with duplicate warnings (and errors) occurs many times in this project.

Would you be able to share your Termbase, or at least a scaled down one with the appropriate terms and an sdlxliff containing the appropriate segments?  I imagine it would be simple enough to create a sample project with sample files allowing only these things to be reproduced... if you have the time of course?

If you can do this I'd be happy to raise this for investigation.

Thanks Paul. How can I edit an sdlxliff file? Because the original source is enhanced XML, it cannot be edited easily.

Well... you could edit either and each would be as tricky.  But a simple solution would be to use studioViews with the Advanced Display Filter (or in fact just the ADF).  Filter on the messages.  then you get a view in Studio containing only segments with the messages you want, and then export to an SDLXLIFF.  Now you have a perfect sample file containing only affected segments.

Then validate the problem still occurs with a smaller sample termbase and all being well you have your sample project that we can use to reproduce the issue.

I have created a subset file that shows the same errors for me. The TB is approx, 23 MB. How should I send you the files?

I've received your file and run a term verification against the termbase you provided.  Looks like this:

Essentially three segments with errors.  First one:

All as expected because the source and target are both German.

Second one:

Also correct because the term "used" has not been applied to the target segment.  If I rewrite the target like this all is well:
