Hi,
We have a publication in English and we want to only translate some of the sections into a different language. We are trying to figure out the best method of doing this. Would you use an English XML file and copy/paste the translated text into it or can you have a mixture of different language files within a publication?

what format is the original document?
can the different sections be tagged in some way?
can you export the different sections separately from the main publication… different layers perhaps?

Hi Paul, the document will be created in DITA XML. It's just a hypothetical question right now, just trying to get ideas if anybody has done something similar with their documentation. Thanks for your feedback.
I'm not an expert with DITA but perhaps the solution would be to use the language attribute for the content and then you would be able to handle the content appropriately by just extracting the content you want to translate:
