Error on download new package : too long file name

Hello,

Since 2-3 days, I have a new error on Trados Studio 2019.

When I try to download newly received package, I always create a new file to separate each order without any problem, but now I can't this any more.

Trados Studio project folder path field with a long file path entered and a 'Browse' button to the right.

I have counted the nomber of letters but there are only 63 letters, it is not becaus of the too long name. (over than 259 letters you say on your site)

www.trados.com/.../translating-project-packages-sdl-trados-studio.html

Error message dialog box in Japanese with various file and character counts, and an 'OK' button at the bottom.

It happens for every files since last weekend.

Could you please tell me why ?? and how I can open without this error ?

Thank you,

  • Hi

Indeed, the name is below 259 letters, so might be something on the name of the folder or the actual folder containing other files that might cause this.

You have advised above that you create new folders for each project, so please just double-check if in that folder are there any files added there by mistake ?

If this is not the cause, maybe there are any special characters used in the name of the folder that causes this. The simplest way to test this would be to create a new empty folder on desktop or on one of your drives and name it simply Test and then please retry again to create or open the project. If Trados studio would not show the error again then might be an - or some special character in the folder name that could cause the issue.

If even with using a test folder you still get the error them might be another issue and then worth trying to repair Trados Studio installation - https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0039395

    I hope this would help

    Best regards,
