Hi Oana,
Your procedure helped me to solve this issue with 2017. Note that there were not any such file as xml i.e. ranslationMemoryRepository.xml Instead, I deleted all files in the "C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0" and it eventually worked fine.
