I have just noticed that one of the TMs I use on a very regular basis is giving the error: "the translation memory data file returned an error - attempt to write a readonly database". It doesn't seem to be updating even though 'updated' is ticked under TMs.
It is a large TM and I have upgraded it and also tried renaming the file but these have not helped.
Any suggestions please?

I've done that. Exported to tmx then tried to import back into a new TM but I see the exact same error message - 'attempt to write a readonly database' - during the import process and it then fails.

I'm sorry, what's with the 'wow, that is amazing'? I've come here because I'm stuck with a problem and need help. Perfectly happy to be told this is my error but I still need to know how to fix it.

I think that Kelly may be referring to the path as this would be more helpful. For example, is it something like this:
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Dropbox\TranslationMemories\
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Google Drive\TranslationMemories\
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\OneDrive\TranslationMemories\
All on my PC but could be the cause of an error message such as the one you have received.

C:\Users\nicky\OneDrive
It is a file on your PC as you said, but it's also linked to a cloud drive and could be why you are getting this read only message, especially if you are sharing the TM with others (which it's not designed to do).
What happens if you copy the TM to somewhere on your computer that is not on a cloud drive? Do you have this problem then?

It's not actually linked though. I have turned off OneDrive because it's awful but it still appears in the file location name. Also, this has been the case for ages and this problem with Studio has only just started happening. I've seen it before but only on occasion. Now, it seems to appear all the time.
... and what happens if you do try on a local drive somewhere else on your computer? Such as here for example:
