I'm not sure I really understand what you would like.  What do you mean by the "existing source TU"?  Do you have a TM that already contains this information as a field so it could be shown?

I need to track the origin (which project, there are many - see screenshot below)  of the TU of a TM. This TM is not a small one and I wouldn't like to use filters in the search or customized fields/values, not helpful in this specific case  Looking for a way to get this automatically I've found "Record Source TU" as a tool, but helpful only for future translations/translating units. Thanks for your further explanation, but to be honest I'm none the wiser.  Here's what I understand so far:

1. you want to be able to record which project a particular TU comes from
2. you don't want to use fields and attributes (which is what they are intended for)
3. you don't want to use "Record Source TU" which is the only way to do this with some automation as anything else would require you updating the fields manually for each project you work on

Can you perhaps explain how you envision this working?  Maybe if you explain how you'd like this to work and what you'd like to see then we can help.  But so far I think this:

1. you cannot get this information from an existing TM where you have not recorded this information because it is not held automatically
2. the only tool we have available to automate this going forward so that it will be available for you in the future is RecordSourceTU

Thank you for your answer.

I would use RecodSourceTU for this, but it is not possible in this special case. I have no idea how I can solve this at this time. RecordSourceTU is very helpful. I use it already.
