The document that I am working on translating has been updated, and therefore, I'm trying to update the source file but I'm unable to do so for some reason. I tried that same function on the sample project and it works. It is only on my own projects, that the function is off. What can I do to open the function?

Did you open the document as single file project? Or else did you create a new project then add the file?
The single file project does not have this feature available.
As an alternative, create a new project, then add the sdlxliff file and check if it works.

As I don't remeber whether I saved the sdlxliff file, is there a way I can find the place from within TRados?
Then, I'll be able to create a new project!

Right-click on te file in Trados Studio and select explore containing folder:
That should open the folder with the sdlxliff in it.

Because you didn't select a file in your files list, or because you are working with single file projects? If the latter your only option is to create a new project.

Neither of them! .lol
I did select the file to be updated, and I am working under a project. However, the option si greyed out. 
I see it's a package, so perhaps the sdlxliff files didn't contain the embedded source? Guessing really...

Not sure. What I just checked was that I have both SDLXLIFF files in separate files (1 in PT and 1 in EN, each in their specific folder).Although I have the project listed on Trados (locally - not on the server), should I align them in order to be able to create another project, and then update the source file?
