With big TM's, Studio is lagging so much I am considering the idea to move on to some other CAT (after about 30 years). This is not practical anymore, and obviously frustrating. How about you?

Can you please confirm where are these TMs stored? Are they saved locally or in a shared drive/cloud?
How large are they? If they exceed 100.000 TUs, it is recommended to split the TMs into smaller sizes, for better performance:

Of course, it's also important to have Studio updated to the latest release, which is Trados Studio 2021 SR2 -16.2.9.9198

I managed to split two of the bigger TM's (btw. they are local, I forgot to specify this earlier, though it is maybe clear by now) and the benefit is already noticeable.
