Trados Projects created in Desktop not recognized in Laptop (Both with active Studio 2021 Licenses)

I created a large Project using Trados Studio 2021 in my desktop and started working, then I had to travel and copied to my Laptop the entire folder (Using Google Drive) along with the TM being used, both computers with Trados Studio 2021 installed and with an active license - unfortunately I was unable to open the project (.sdljproj file intact) - I used to perform this routine before upgrading to Studio 2021 now I am feeling really frustrated because I feel like I basically lost a capability I already had with Studio 2014. No error message, it just tries to open as a website when clicking from File Manager, then do nothing, tried to link the application to open it from Studio but the sdljproj file is not recognized when trying to open it.

Any suggestion here?

Thanks in advance

  • If you are using the same desktop and laptop as you did when you worked with 2014 then there is no value in asking you about the file structure as this will already be the same.  So the problem may be due to at least two things I can guess at:

    1. you created the project as a cloud project and so the only way to get t will be to log into your cloud account and download it to Studio... or just work on it in the cloud
    2. the problem is linked to the way Google Drive is working for you.  I'd be suspicious because you said a web page opened.  But as you gave no other info on where the page went I can only guess

Perhaps some of this will help you identify where the problem is yourself?
