Trados Projects created in Desktop not recognized in Laptop (Both with active Studio 2021 Licenses)

I created a large Project using Trados Studio 2021 in my desktop and started working, then I had to travel and copied to my Laptop the entire folder (Using Google Drive) along with the TM being used, both computers with Trados Studio 2021 installed and with an active license - unfortunately I was unable to open the project (.sdljproj file intact) - I used to perform this routine before upgrading to Studio 2021 now I am feeling really frustrated because I feel like I basically lost a capability I already had with Studio 2014. No error message, it just tries to open as a website when clicking from File Manager, then do nothing, tried to link the application to open it from Studio but the sdljproj file is not recognized when trying to open it.

Any suggestion here?

Thanks in advance

  • I have Trados Studio running on both my desktop computer and my laptop without issues, using Dropbox to keep everything in sync. As Paul has pointed out, if your folder structure is the same as you've used before, it should be working. I'm not using Google Drive the same way you are, but following my laptop's upgrade to Windows 11, I noticed that Dropbox started behaving differently, keeping everything as "cloud only", unless I specifically changed the sync preferences while connected to the Internet. I realized this while on a plane and trying to access one of my projects. Having no Internet connection, I couldn't access the files. I haven't looked into it further, but I suspect Windows 11 is to blame, as nothing else had changed, so I would suggest checking your offline file availability and sync settings if you're in a similar situation.
