Is upgrading via SMA cheaper than upgrading directly?

Hello.

Firstly...

I've noticed that the current 1-year SMA is EUR 171, and it includes a free upgrade to the next version.

At this time, upgrading from 2019 to 2021 Freelance Plus would actually cost EUR 206.

This appears to mean that if I currently have Trados 2019 Freelance Plus, I could upgrade to 2021 Plus for just EUR 171 instead of EUR 206, if I buy the SMA.  Is this true?

Secondly....

The SMA page says "Free upgrades to next version", but what if my current version is e.g. 2017?  Do I get a free upgrade to 2019, or do I get a discount on the upgrade to 2021?

Thanks

Samuel

If you "had" the SMA already then yes.  But in your case you would have to upgrade to 2021 first, as an SMA is only available for the current version of the software.  So, if you retain the SMA then you always know what to budget for annually and you always get the upgrades as well as the ability to use technical support if and when you need it.

This is irrelevant for you because you don't have a version that entitles you to an SMA in the first place.
