Markdown files

Hello,

I have not any deeper knowledge of handling file types other than Microsoft Office and those most frequent ones. I also do not translate Markdown files normally, hoping - when I saw Markdown listed among Studio file types - that it would be no great pain.

But it was. When I finalised the translated file and sent it to the client, the file turned out to be corrupt and did not work. The client told me I could change the .md to .txt. I did but the result was still not as desired.

Can anyone tell me please which way to go - are there any special actions to do before I can treat .md files or is there any special wonder in Studio I still haven't discovered? I cannot see much configuration options there for Markdown files.

I did my search for this issue here at this site but I find all the results too complex for me to grasp.

Thank you very much everyone.

  • I have exactly the same problem as the original poster (including the fact that I have limited knowledge of .md files). I am using Studio 2019. It makes some unwanted changes to my target files. For example, near the start of the file, it adds some ###, removes some ```, and adds a few line breaks. Later in the file, after each <Tabitem, it removes the line breaks. This has make the markdown files unusable for my clients. I have tried changing any settings in Studio that appear to be relevant to .md files, but it has not made any difference. I would appreciate some advice. (I would upgrade to Studio 2022 if I could be sure that would solve the problem, but I have no way of knowing that, unless any of you could tell me?) Thank you.
