It's not possible to hide the segment numbers. Why do you want to do this?  Are you just looking for more screen space?  You can fold the navigation pave in and that gets you more screen estate.

This can also be done from File - Options - Editor - Show segment numbers

Thanks Elisa Maxim... I didn't know that was there at all!!  That is what nika oghiashvili was looking for.
