his translation memory XXX will not be used for the following manage pairs: English (United Kingdom) -> Dutch (Belgium) To edit the translation memories used for these languages pairs, go to the individual language pair level.

Good evening;

I have been working with SDL Trados 2014 for about a year now and created several TM’s (almost all eng-GB > nl- BE. All has been working fine until a few days ago. I continue to work in the same language combination, however each time I want to add a TM (from the list I have been using for months without any problems) I get the message:  This translation memory XXX will not be used for the following manage pairs:

 English (United Kingdom) -> Dutch (Belgium)

To edit the translation memories used for these languages pairs, go to the individual language pair level.

I get the same message when I try to create a new TM, based on the text I am working on.

When I open the TM, some of the TM appear to be completely empty, others just have a few lines there. Others seem to be complete.

I would be grateful for your help.

  • Hi An,

    It sounds as though you have set these languages at the specific language pair level as opposed to All Language Pairs.  If you look in your Project Settings you have the All Language Pairs level directly under Language Pairs.  Below that you will have something like English (United Kingdom) -> Dutch (Belgium) which is the specific language pair.  If you added your TM at this level then you need to make changes at that level rather than All Language Pairs.

    I may not have your exact scenario right, but your problem is something to do with you trying to make a change at a different level to where your TMs are.  Does this help?
