I've been trying for several days now to set up Windows via Boot Camp, and am finding the process pretty esoteric (on the Mac side -- no fault of Trados!)
I think I reached the end of the Boot Camp set-up process, but was then prompted for a Windows licence. Should this be necessary, if I'll be starting off on the free trial version?
Or can I simply click "Continue without licence"?

You say that it is asking for a Windows license; this is independent from Trados!
I strongly suggest you don't try to run Trados in Bootcamp. The better solution that works fine and is used by many Mac owners is to install a virtualization SW such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion and run Studio inside a Windows virtual machine. This will also allow you to customise your keyboard shortcuts, to share folders, etc.
Anyway, in both cases you will need to have a Windows license.

I will go back and look at the various specs and requirements, as I'm running an old Mac and have already partitioned my hard drive...but actually have very little memory left. I'll see what makes the most sense.

If you want to run Trados Studio in a VM, you'll need 16 GB of RAM in your Mac because Studio itself requires 8 GB to run efficiently.

Many thanks. I cannot afford to do that, currently. The VM options all appear to be fee-paying, and I'm right now on below-subsistence-level income. Sadly, I'm quite literally not in a position to have to pay in order to work.
Bearing in mind that I'm still only trying to get myself set up on the free trial version of Trados (if that makes any difference), in my Google searches, I came across threads suggesting that a Windows licence for Mac users is not required, for basic functionality. Here is one such thread.
Would it then be your experience and that of other Mac users that this is incorrect?

PS: I do currently have a monthly subscription to Office 365, but I'm not sure if that comes with a licence.
You can obviously install Windows in BootCamp without activating it. You may however need to activate it with a valid product key after some trial period in order to use all the features. Note that you can buy legal Windows licenses very cheap from some Internet sites.
The subscription for Microsoft 365 (the new name for 'Office 365') only covers Office applications and does not include a license for Windows.
