I haven't changed segmentation rules in a long time, but now, with Trados 2022 it does not seem to work like it used to any more.

They work the same way as they did in 2021. You can find some information in the product help which "might" be useful for you:

Otherwise, take a look here:
Once you get to here and open the segmentation rules editor it'll be just the same as it was for all the versions prior to 2021.

No doubt... 2021 did introduce a significant change in the way Language Resources are managed. Glad you sorted it out though.
