italics button turned into bold-italics button

Hi, I use Trados Studio 2021 SR2, and I've noticed that the "i" button on the ribbon turned into "bi" button (it used to be "i" in earlier versions) - see the screenshot below. Is it an error that went unnoticed? Cheers.

Screenshot showing Trados Studio 2021 SR2 ribbon with a 'bi' button instead of the expected 'i' button, indicating a potential error in the interface.

  • Your choice. But resetting the window layout does not change anything but the look of Studio. All windows can be rearranged in easy way afterwards.

As for the profile: this should be stored (exported) as soon as your own profile has been setup in Studio in order to be able to restore clean settings of this profile when needed. Resetting Studio would do then no harm too, as nearly all adaptations are stored in the user profile.

The reason can also be a damaged virtual machine, if you use a Mac.

  • Thanks, I'm fine with the current window layout and, again, I don't expect that resetting the window layout would magically change the button from "bi" to "i".

I have no idea how to export my profile in Studio.

As for the "damaged virtual machine", I can't see how it's related to one single button that suddenly has changed its look after updating Trados Studio. I use Windows 10 Pro, and I have no issues whatsoever with any Windows software running under Parallels, so the virtual machine is definitely not damaged.

  • Well, if you know better...

To manage user profiles go to File - Setup as stated before.

For the rest: do what you consider to be best for you.

  • Thanks for your help, Jerzy!

    Have a nice day!

P.S. For the sake of clarity, the reasons for this post were (1) bringing this issue to the attention of the RWS team, and (2) checking if any other users see the same button in the ribbon. The button just looks funny to me, but it doesn't cause any problems when I use the Studio. I wrote to RWS on Facebook first, and they suggested I should ask that question here, so I just followed their advice. At the moment, I am not willing to reset the Studio window layout or do any other modifications which, in my view, won't reinstate the "i" button.
