Wrong language in a TM - RTL languages

Dear all,

I sent a translation from French (Belgium) into Pashto (Afghanistan) to a translator who got confused and translated it all into Dari (Afghanistan). So now I have some dari segments in my pachto TM. I tried several things to fix the problem:

- export for external review and then import my bilingual file into the dari project, but it doesn't load the translated segments, I don't know why.

- I created a project TM and exported the segments, then changed the target language in the .rtf file from pashto into dari, then imported the rtf file into the dari TM, but it doesn't work fine: all RTL segments are transformed into "????????" and all LTR segments are imported correctly (for examples addresses, phone numbers, etc.).

If you're unfamiliar with pachto and dari, note that these two languages are not well supported by Studio, they are aligned from left to right (unlike Arabic or Farsi which are well aligned from right to left), although when generating the target file, the text is indeed well aligned from right to left.

I therefore have the feeling that my problem is linked to these precise target languages.

Would anyone have an idea on how to fix my problem without having to copy-paste all target segments from the pachto version into the dari version?

Thanks in advance for reading :-)

I am struggling to understand what is your biggest problem.

Is it now that your TM is polluted with the wrong flavour of Afghanistan.
Or how to manage your project moving forward?

At project level there are gaps in fully understand your notes, as I would think all the translation received is null and void.
So not sure what help it would be to

copy-paste all target segments from the pachto version into the dari version

But what I can say is lets remove the unwanted segments in your TM.
This is achievable by using TM metadata

Screenshot of Trados Studio System Fields showing metadata such as Created by CAROL-ANN, Created on 18012000 13:18:35, and Usage count 0.

Isolating based on Created By or perhaps created on/modified on
Then use these filters to export/batch delete

But please do keep a copy of your TM in case you end up with results that you did not expect
