Hi all,
I would be grateful for your help. A file which has already been revised and saved on my computer (and is effectively there) can no more be opened in studio. I see it in the project list but when I click on it, I receive the following error message.

This seems to be an online (cloud) storage. Studio tells you, that the file isn't there anymore. Where did you store the project?

On my hard disc and it is there
OK, so if the file is there, nothing seems to be lost.
Go to files view in Studio, click this file and select "Enthaltenden Ordner anzeigen" from the ribbon above. Does this lead you to the location of the file?

Yes, but when I click the files,there is only a file named report

From your first post I assume, you are trying to open a file in Studio within a project from the view called "Files". You can see this here:
Now in the files view select a file and click "Enthaltenden Ordner anzeigen" (can be a little bit different, my GUI is in English):
If you've done these steps and the requested file is not shown there, so the references within Studio project are damaged somehow.
Make sure, that in the location of the file in question you find:
If that all is true, remove the project from the list in Studio by right clicking it. Restart Studio and then use "Open project" from the Projects view to open the project from the location in the previous step. This should repair the connections in the project itself.
Or did you (or anyone else) for any reason renamed the file in the target folder?

No, no renaming
I do not work with one drive, only on my hard disc
When I open the file on my hard disc, the following happens:
ok - so the files are not there. That is not what you said.
The reason I asked about OneDrive is that today almost all microsoft windows computers are delivered with this feature enabled, so many users may not even be aware they are using it. They work locally but their files are being synched. This can cause problems... for example:
So when Jerzy noted it looked like a cloud storage, OneDrive can cause this. If your files are disappearing like this OneDrive can be the cause.
At the risk of teaching you to suck eggs... I have no idea how technical you are... can you double check that you are not synching your files to OneDrive in the background possibly without your knowledge?

In the meantime, I have worked on another project in studio which went fine ...
I have no idea how to solve the case of your missing file.
However, for the future I would strongly advise you NOT to store anything (literally: anything) on your drive c:\, as you are doing now. Desktop is never a suitable place to store files. Best solution: a drive only for files, like d:\
Syncing files with any cloud when working on those with Studio is a bad idea and leads to unexpected behavior.

many users may not even be aware they are using it
I can vouch for this. I had no idea when I bought a new PC, and I discovered the hard way that you can lose a lot of work if you don't know what OneDrive is and how it works! I had to learn how it works and make it work for me but that still doesn't guarantee that some electronic impulse somewhere won't interfere when working, saving, synching or uploading to OneDrive. If you decide to use OneDrive, it's better to work locally and treat OneDrive as a back-up drive...

PS: another thing to note here is that each PC (even within seemingly identical builds) will be set up slightly differently so once you've learned how OneDrive 'works' you may find it works differently on another PC...
